Favorite WordPress Plug-ins

This is by no means an all encompassing list of our favorite WordPress plug-ins, but rather a working reference that we’ll update from time to time. These are some of the core plug-ins we use with almost every web development project.

Also, some of our favorite themes are developed by Brian Gardner and StudioPress. They create wonderful designs that are easy to customize, and their support is excellent.

Great Time Had at Second DFW WordPress Technical Meet-Up

A big thanks to Michael Johnstone of eLocomotive for hosting the second WordPress Technical Meet-Up for Dallas/Fort Worth WordPress gurus. The event took place in Richardson, TX yesterday.

Matt Simo presented useful information on how to use template tags and query posts to control which posts display in the WordPress loop. Randy Hoyt followed, with a discussions of how to use the ProjectManager plug-in and a custom template file to provide clients and other non-technical users an easy form-like UI to edit featured snippets.

About 20 folks were in attendance, mingling over pizza and sodas. No date has been announced for the next event, but we all do look forward to it.

WordCamp09 attendees enjoyed a rich panel discussion about WordPress, Blogging, and more.

JohnP dazzles the WordCamp09 attendees with some wild costume changes.

We really enjoyed the weekend conference. It was great to meet new people, learn great tips, tricks, and features about WordPress, and just be around really great folks. Thanks to UTD for hosting the event, and to all those who worked so hard to put it together.

We’ll have another post soon with more thoughts on this great event.
